New Transportation Information - FYI
New Safety Procedures at Bus Stops*
* * * EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY * * *
All bus drivers must now use the existing hand signal for all students - both right side and left side.
The use of the door alone as a signal for right side students to approach the bus has a critical flaw:
1. The driver must open the door to activate the red lights, and then . .
2. The driver needs to ensure traffic has stopped before signaling to the students to approach the bus. Clearly, the door opening cannot stand alone as the appropriate signal - since traffic does not know they need to stop until the door is open and the red lights are on.
In addition, remember that students should be at their designated place of safety 5 minutes before the bus is due to arrive.
