Class Description:
The goal in this class is to provide opportunities for reading growth.
~Foster conversations about text as well as the variety of connections students make to text.
~Engage students in regular meetings with fellow readers.
~Empower students to take responsibility for their reading as well as their responses to text.
~Reflect what real readers do within a community of literate people.
~Allow the teacher to visit the students as a fellow reader.
~Provide opportunities for students to self select text that will enrich knowledge about a topic.

Expectations
1. Research: learn about your god/goddess using books, handouts, and internet sources
2. Identify origin of god/goddess (family history/ how came to be/creation)
3. Name the natural phenomenon your god/goddess is associated with
4. Name any myths and legends your god/goddesses is a part of
5. Name the powers your god/goddesses has and how they use them
6. Include pictures and graphics that represent your god/goddess
7. Create a poster to help you present this information
